As-Salamu Al-Laykum (peace upon you), dear family.
Yesterday, we were finally given our first assignment. We visited and
photographed a community made entirely out of trash, from the smallest
shack to the grandest garbage palace. Everything was constructed of
leftovers of some less fortunate project. Donkeys fed from broken
bathtubs and the lizards made their homes in nests of Coke bottle
wrappers and cotton scrap. The air was chocolate with the dust from
the from the ground and our feet took on the color of a much more
African race. (words by: joey huddleston)
